This pet suffered a subconjunctival hemorrhage (red eye) as a result of a dog fight. Utilizing our trained expertise, AVCI was able to pinpoint thrombocytopenia, a condition characterized by low platelet count, as the primary factor affecting the pet’s ocular tissue. Swift and suitable management of both the blood disorder and the eye injury facilitated a quick recovery from the condition.

Subconjunctival hemorrhage in dogs or cats is a condition where blood vessels in the eye rupture and cause bleeding under the conjunctiva, the clear membrane that covers the white part of the eye. The eye may appear red or purple, but usually does not cause pain or vision problems. Subconjunctival hemorrhage can be caused by trauma, infection, high blood pressure, or bleeding disorders.
